Ready in 30 minutes, our Quick & Easy Delicious Chana Masala is the pure definition of comfort food. It is an extremely flavourful, satisfying, fragrant and nutritious plant-based dish. This is my version of Chana Masala and one of our favourite dishes. We make it at least twice a month!

  • Select the Sauté setting on the Instant Pot. Wait until the pot is hot. Add the oil.
  • Stir in the mustard seeds and the cumin seeds, and let them sauté for a minute, stirring continuously.
  • Stir in the finely chopped white onion and let cook for 5 minutes until slightly golden.
  • Add the finely chopped garlic, ginger, and green chillies, and continue cooking for a couple of minutes. Stir in the Indian bay leaves and let sauté for a minute.
  • Add the garam masala, freshly ground coriander seeds, ground turmeric, and freshly ground black pepper, while stirring continously for a minute.
  • Now, select the Cancel setting and stir in the water while slowly deglasing the pot with your spatula.
  • Stir in the sea salt, crushed tomatoes, and boiled chickpeas. Stir everything well until combined thoroughly.
  • Secure the lid and set to Pressure Cook on High. Set the cooking time to 10 minutes.
  • Once the 10 minutes have passed, allow a natural pressure release.
  • Open the Instant Pot and stir in the amchur powder, stirring it well.
  • Serve alongside basmati rice and topped with fresh chopped coriander. Enjoy, this super delicious dish!
